Dean is originally from Joelton, Tennessee. He is a graduate of Montgomery Bell Academy (1978), Vanderbilt University (B.A. 1981), and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div. 1984, D.Min. 2009). He has also served at the Baptist Sunday School Board, the First Baptist Church of Joelton, Tennessee, and Trenton Baptist Church, Trenton, Kentucky. He and his wife Cindy have two daughters, Cara Wheeler and Abby Carter, and three grandchildren, Kage, Kayson, and Kinsley Carter.
Tammy, or “Gigi” to those closest to her, and her husband, Bob, are natives to the Midwest. God led them to Tennessee in 1992 where they lived in Murfreesboro until 2021. Over the last several years they have made their home in Woodbury. Their union of 43 years has blessed them with 4 children and 8 grandchildren, who are their greatest treasures. They have spent their lives serving and assisting others whether it be at home, in the church, or in the workplace. Her passion is to take every opportunity she’s given to share the love of Christ and help people understand their purpose in life!
Bro. Rhett is a native of Woodbury now living in Rockvale. Having grown up at First Baptist he answered the call to ministry in 2011 working as intern to Dr. Julian Suggs. Upon Dr. Suggs retirement in 2012 he took over as Minister of Music and in September of 2017 was ordained by the church to the gospel ministry. In addition to his ministry at the church, he also works as an Auto Injury Claims Specialist for State Farm. When not serving at First Baptist or fulfilling his duties at State Farm, he loves to spend time with his wife, Brittany, and their children, Beckett & Noa Katherine.
I have lived in Woodbury all my life and have spent the past 34 years serving my community as a public school teacher. Teaching has always been an important part of my life, but I especially enjoy working with and teaching young people at First Baptist Church. Throughout my years as an educator, I have had the opportunity to teach countless lessons, but I believe my most important teaching assignment is sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. My desire is to help young people grow in their faith, understand God’s Word, and know the life-changing love of Christ. My wife, Beth, and I are grateful for the opportunity to serve the youth of First Baptist Church and to invest in the next generation for Christ.
Erik moved to Tennessee from Indiana with his wife and two children over 15 years ago. Eric attributes the move as orchestrated by God. After serving on the security team at a local church in Murfreesboro and finding his forever home in Cannon County, Eric and his family became members of First Baptist Church of Woodbury in January of 2021. With a lifetime of experience in the construction and building trades, he is excited to serve as the Custodian for First Baptist Church. Eric also serves as a Trustee at the church.
